General Guideline Principles for Clonidine for CRPS for workers compensation patients

The New York State workers compensation board has developed these guidelines to help physicians, podiatrists, and other healthcare professionals provide appropriate treatment for Clonidine for CRPS.

These Workers Compensation Board guidelines are intended to assist healthcare professionals in making decisions regarding the appropriate level of care for their patients with ankle and foot disorders.

The guidelines are not a substitute for clinical judgement or professional experience. The ultimate decision regarding care must be made by the patient in consultation with his or her healthcare provider.

Clonidine for CRPS

Clonidine for CRPS is recommended For the treatment of moderately severe CRPS that is unresponsive to rehabilitative therapy, NSAIDs, tricyclic antidepressants, or glucocorticoids, oral or regional blocking administration is advised.

Indications: Severe CRPS that are unresponsive to glucocorticoids, bisphosphonates, tricyclic antidepressants, aerobic activity, other forms of exercise, NSAIDs, or strengthening activities.

Three shots spaced out over a week: frequency, dosage, and duration. The only high-quality trial employed 30 mg of clonidine, 1 mg/kg of lidocaine, 0.9% saline solution, and 5 mg of parecoxib. Other NSAIDs could be used in place of parecoxib as it is unavailable in the US.

Intravenous Regional Anesthesia with Clonidine for Preventive Administration Before Surgery

Intravenous Regional Anesthesia with Clonidine for Preventive Administration Before Surgery is recommended for given before surgery in CRPS patients to prevent recurrence of the condition. It might also be taken into account for surgical patients who are thought to have a higher risk of developing CRPS.

Indications: Patients having surgery who have already experienced CRPS. Those with a high risk of developing CRPS may want to think about it.
